Williamson Trip

Here's the rock we climbed, viewed from the trail on the way in. It's a big beast with lots of good climbs. We spent a good part of the day on the aretes you see to the left. That's the location of the Being There climb. 160 feet of good handholds with a view of an eagle's nest halfway up. We didn't disturb the nest (other than by being there).

Here's Steve doing the lead up Being There. You can see Todd in the lower left foreground to judge the scale. Dave's belaying Steve from the crevase around the arete to the right. Steve's heading up to the pointy thing at the top of the picture.

Here's Bill at the top of the Being There climb (he's that little bump on the peak). Steve top-rope belayed Bill up the climb. Steve also top roped Dave up the climb. Then Dave lowered Steve, and raised Todd and LeAnne. We won't mention what happened to the ropes after Dave rapped down from the top. Well, Dave had been in the sun for quite some time. He was hungry, too.

Here's Todd part way up the Being There climb. You can see that the sun is shining brightly. But don't worry, we had our sunscreen.

It was a beautiful day. Every so often you could hear a breeze blowing through the canyon about half a minute before you'd feel the nice rush of cool air.
